Update on Pill Cam Test-

The pill cam was nothing like I had imagined it. It had this glowing light and was very hard to swallow! Once I got it down, they strapped this belt all around me. It had this blue flickering light and vibrated from time to time!

I worked all day while I was rocking the hardware- I was able to eat a small light lunch- I had my fav, a banana and some more bone broth!

At the end of the day, I returned the camera. I was feeling off- I felt nauseous and bloated.

I took more meds to help with the discomfort, but it did not really do anything- at around 1:30 am I woke up with horrible pain and the urge to go. I was in the bathroom for about 25 min when I knew I was going to throw up. I didn’t have anything to throw up and ran into the shower. I felt so dizzy so I called my mom just in case I passed out. This was horrible it was coming out both sides ( TMI I know!)

I had fluids set for Tuesday which was very much needed after that fiasco. I was also able to have IV nausea meds and that helped. I took the morning off from work so I could sleep in and really get some rest. It is so important to take that extra time to rest.

When I got to work on Wednesday, I had a temp of 101.3 and with COVID protocols, I had to get a test before I could come in. It took FOEVER to get my rapid results. It was negative. - a post for another day, how many tests do you think I will have to get with all my frequent fevers??!

With a fever, pain, and nausea, I called the doctor because this could all be signs of the camera being stuck!
They ordered a stat X-ray and now I am awaiting the results.

The results came almost 24 hours later, and it showed the camera had left my body but there was an area of narrowing where it looked like the camera might have spent some time in an area of scar tissue. They said that if my fevers continued they would send in some antibiotics.

I also decided to go on a bland soft diet to be able to eat without dying in the process. They mentioned I should do this to help ease any stomach discomfort. It’s also so good to already be doing what the doctor tells you to do 😂

They also mentioned that I might never be able to do another pill cam test again. I knew this was a risk but at this point the good outcomes out weighted the bad.

It could take 2-3weeks to get the results. I am just hoping to have them back before I see my Mississippi GI through telehealth in May.
