Abuela’s Tuna Salad

I started 2021 with some of my favorite family memories. My grandmother ALWAYS had this tuna salad in the fridge. She had it in this green container that I can picture it so vividly. I loved how the salad had this crunch. When I learned the crunch was apples my mind was blown!

It has been years since I have had my grandmother’s salad. My mom made it and I got so sick after I ate it. The mayo and gluten in the pasta was not a good combo on my stomach. So, I decided to make a complaint version!

I used wild caught tuna, whole 30 approved mayo ( dairy free), apples, celery. I omitted the pasta, just because I didn’t have any compliant one on hand. I did use a wrap to eat it though!

While my only green stuff in my grandma’s salad was pickles,  I added celery just to add more crunch and fill me up!

Overall, it wasn’t my grandmother’s but it was pretty dang tasty! I will definitely be making this again.

Recipe for Abulea’s Tuna Salad!

Directions- pretty simple!

Drain can of tuna and place in a bowl

Chop, onion, celery, and apple then place in bowl with tuna

Add mayo

Then enjoy!

These are the wraps I used!

I hope this brings you as much comfort as it brings me!
